Video: Scarborough Says Cuccinelli is "certifiable when it comes to mainstream political thought"

Let's remember that the good people of Virginia elected him to public office three times (twice to the Senate and once to the Attorney General's office).  Two of those three were by the people of Northern (well educated, sensible, informed) Northern Virginia.

While I never voted for him myself, I am aware that he is not outside the "mainstream" of Virginia politics, even if he is outside the "mainstream" of your politics.

Republicans continue to blast Cuccinelli over radical book

Ken Cuccinelli's attacks on Medicare and Social Security in his new book are so far outside the mainstream that conservative Republicans are lining up one-by-one to condemn them.

In today's Washington Examiner, Republican Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling responded forcefully to Cuccinelli's Medicare and Social Security rhetoric saying:

"My own mom and dad relied on Social Security and Medicare to help them through the last years of their lives. These programs may need reforms to preserve them for the future, but seniors shouldn't be criticized as dependents because they receive Social Security and Medicare."

Also this morning former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough discussed Cuccinelli on his MSNBC show Morning Joe:

"I'd like to say a good example, and I'll just say it: Cuccinelli. Right? So here's a guy, he's a Tea Party favorite in Virginia. The guy is certifiable when it comes to mainstream political thought. This is a guy that attacks Medicare, he attacks Medicaid, he attacks Social Security. This is a guy that said he was thinking about not having his children-give his children Social Security numbers because quote, thats how they track you. This is a guy that has said more things that will offend the voters that swing elections than is humanly possible."  (Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Bolling and Scarborough aren't the only conservatives to tee off on how far outside the mainstream Cuccinelli's agenda is.

Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele was quick to throw him under the bus as having a "cynical view of the American spirit," and conservative Washington Post blogger Jennifer Ruben described Cuccinelli as "preaching and screeching to the choir, ignoring the nonideological voters and painting himself as an ideologue.

...who have been elected to some minor local and state office to which no one pays much attention.  It's when such a person rises to a higher level of office that their lunacy gets judged, as it absolutely must be.

It's not all of NOVA, it was ONE Senate district (0.00 / 0)

which was a purplish district, and where turnout in off/odd-year elections skews Republican.  Also, Cooch always de-emphasized the crazy when he ran there. Big difference running for governor, and actually coming out with a book that puts in writing what a lunatic he is.

Once outside the cities (3.50 / 2)

and into a large part of white, rural, confederate Virginia Cuccinelli begins to resemble a sizable number of these people, anti science, anti-government, extremely anti-federal government, intolerant, ignorant and prejudiced. People get the government they deserve.

or we'll lose, for the reason you cite. Fortunately, as we showed here in Virginia in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2012, there are more of "us" than there are of "them."

A large segment of white, rural Virginia is as I say.  How else do you explain the sea of red that surrounds the blue islands that are the cities.  For the record I also am white and live in rural Virginia but I see things as they are.
