Here are a few Virginia (and national) news headlines, political and otherwise, for Friday, October 5. Oh, and yes, Big Bird will haunt Mitt Romney.
*Daily Kos Elections Polling Wrap: Earliest post-debate polling hints at minimal boost for Romney (Key word: "minimal." Now, let's move ahead, get back to work, and ignore the idiot media with its desperate-for-eyeballs-and-money need to create a "the race is close!" narrative. As of last night, Nate Silver has Obama with an 87.1% chance of winning the election in his model, and a 97.0% chance in his "Now-cast." Also, Gallup has Obama with his highest approval rating since 2009. In other words, we're dooooooooomed! LOL)
*Obama plans to change approach before next presidential debate with Romney (My advice? Obama should absolutely NAIL this pathological liar; call him out on his Big Lies, evasions and flip flops; demand release of his tax returns, etc.)
*PBS CEO Paula Kerger: Mitt Romney's Debate Attack Was 'Stunning' (VIDEO) (Also "stupid," I'd say, as PBS funding is a miniscule fraction - like 0.0001% of the federal budget.)
*Virginia GOP banking young voters will stay home
*Obama, Romney campaign in Virginia on Friday
*Cuccinelli going all in for Allen
*Kaine tops Allen in Senate donations through September
*Josh Romney to campaign in Virginia
*Tysons Corner, without the 'corner'
*Romney set for foreign policy speech Monday at VMI
*Marshall pursues relief from rules on contraception (The Republican war on women's reproductive health and freedom continues unabated...)
*Polls say Rigell leads Hirschbiel but disagree on spread (No wonder why the DCCC pulled its money out of here. Ugh.)
*Rigell-Hirschbiel race starts clean, gets messy
*Another light rail referendum: Has the tide turned in Virginia Beach?
*Douglass talks about federal spending in Moneta
*PolitiFact: Powell claim about Cantor, congressional pay false
*Virginians can save on energy-efficient appliances, products during 4-day sales-tax holiday
*Snow in Northern Plains as cold shot charges towards East Coast ("In Washington, D.C., highs Saturday will reach well into the 70s before struggling to reach 60 Sunday as the jet stream will have carved out a huge trough over eastern North America, allowing cold air to plunge southeastward.")
*Nationals wait and wonder ("Washington begins the postseason on the road Sunday in the NLDS because of a scheduling quirk, but that is all the Nats know at the moment.") |
