The Stench
Find out how Ken Cuccinelli's not just a tinfoil-hat, John Birch Society-style, extremist wackjob, he's also corrupt, in the The Continuing Chronicle of Ken Cuccinelli's Corruption. It really stinks!

Video: Ann Romney Says She Worries About Mitt's "Mental Well Being" as President

by: lowkell

Fri Sep 28, 2012 at 19:34:32 PM EDT

See the interview with Ann Romney towards the end of this video (around 6:40 or so in). After she outright lies and says this has been a jobless recovery (absolutely false; in fact there have been around millions of jobs created since the Republican Great Recession ended, and a net gain in jobs under President Obama), Ann Romney nervously says that she worries most about her husband's "mental well being" as President. Uh, I'm sorry, but I don't want the Commander in Chief of a nuclear-armed superpower, currently at war, to be someone whose own wife has serious concerns about his "mental well being." Wow.

It seems to me (0.00 / 0)
they are actively trying to lose this race.

Nah (0.00 / 0)
This is just indicative of a couple who have never been criticized, who have never been questioned, who believe they are simply above everyone and everything.  They pay no attention to what they say or do because they've never had to care what other people think.

Romney wants to be President but without ever really saying what he'll do or why he'll do it.  Us peons - the American public - aren't supposed to ask a man of his stature to explain himself.  It's beneath him to even think of doing so willingly.  We should all just accept his grandiosity of being, willingly submit, and follow his lead with no questions.

It's the attitude of a despot, it's the attitude of a royalist, it's the attitude of a religious cult leader.

You have perfectly described (0.00 / 0)
both the Authoritarian Leader mindset and the authoritarian follower mindset, as described by, I believe, Eric Altmeyer in "The Authoritarian Mind." The utter conviction of being absolutely, inflexibly right, and entitled to command (authoritarian leader) and the willingness to submit to the chosen authority and think and act as the authority orders (authoritarian follower). A part of the unspoken contract between leader and follower in this scenario is that the follower also acknowledges the superiority of the leader, and duly fawns on him. These characteristics are obvious (to an outside observer) among the dedicated rightwingers in the Republican Party. I find especially galling the demand from our new global elite that the inferior rest of us (the 99 percent)freely acknowledge their superiority, and submit joyfully.
