Video: Cuccinelli Likens His Struggle Against Contraception to MLK's Fight Against Segregation

by: lowkell

Tue Jan 22, 2013 at 16:04:09 PM EST

Every time I think Ken Kookinelli can't get any crazier, he goes and does so. Now he's likening his struggle against women having access to a legal product they need for their health and well being, aka "contraception," to Martin Luther King Jr's struggle against racial segregation and oppression. Oh, and you've got to love how Cuckoo hides his anti-woman, anti-freedom agenda behind the smokescreen of defending "religious liberty," which he falsely claims is under attack in this country. In reality, if you're not smoking whatever Cuccinelli's smoking, you'd know that of course there's no assault on religious liberty in America, that in fact religion here is probably more free than in any other country, or any other time, in human history. What next, the mythical "war against Christmas?" Ugh.

h/t: TPM - great catch!

Video: Sen. Dick Black (Insane) Compares Roe v. Wade to Holocaust (0.00 / 0)

You can't get much more offensive than this garbage (as a Jew, I feel that comparing anything to the Holocaust - in which 6 million innocent Jewish men, women and children were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators - to just about anything is questionable, but to compare it to a woman's right to reproductive health and choice, it's particularly disgusting). But then again, this is the level of insanity we're talking about:

I recall one particularly terrible situation, where, this was in basic training, there was a young fellow who went to the showers at night, and there were two homosexuals lurking -- they were also basic trainees - and they strangled him with a towel and forced him to submit to, you know, things that we won't talk about on the air. But it was extremely brutal, it was extremely humiliating, and they taunted him when they were finished. And at the time of the court martial of these guys, the victim was in psychiatric confinement at a hospital. Now, this is what we're asking the mothers and fathers of America to send their children into, is that sort of environment, where sexual bullies will prey on the smallest and least assertive soldiers.

Thanks Lowell, for standing with us.

"Sexual bullies?" (0.00 / 0)
That pretty well describes Delegate Black himself, and Cuccinelli, in their unremitting attacks on the females of their species. Patriarchs triumphant! Might makes right! God created Man in His image (women are an after-thought, unfortunately necessary for, ugh, propagation of the species. Well, I guess even God is entitled to one mistake.)
PS: Just so you'd know, that was a snark

Dr. Ferguson Reid Responds to Cuccinelli's Comparing Birth Control Opposition to Civil Rights Struggle (0.00 / 0)
Richmond, VA -- Civil Rights leader and former Virginia Delegate Dr. Ferguson Reid released the following statement today responding to Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli's repeated invocation of Dr. Martin Luther King and the struggle for civil rights to support his efforts to limit birth control access:

"It is disappointing that Attorney General Cuccinelli would equate his opposition to birth control coverage with the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the men and women who marched and fought so that all Americans could have equal rights. We can all disagree on policy matters from time to time, but I hope in the future that the Attorney General will resist the urge to invoke such monumental periods in our history simply to strengthen his arguments."

Cuccinelli has a dream! (4.00 / 1)
Well, yeah, it is so hard to be a Christian in America, they certainly need to resort to civil disobedience to overcome their second class citizenship.  I mean, just this last month, I didn't notice anyone being allowed to celebrate Christmas, did you?  I mean, it's not like you heard Christmas music every time you turned on the radio or TV or walked into any store in the nation.

Yes, it makes so much sense to compare the state of Christians with the state of black Americans in the 50s, who had to use separate bathrooms and go to inferior schools, and get beaten up by police for no reason and go to jail if they dared marry a white person.

Yes, that is exactly the Christian experience today.  So please, let's let all the religious right activists go to jail to defend their rights, and then maybe let's forget about them and leave them there for a while.

For a Sustainable Virginia. Now on Twitter.
