Republicans Have Fostered an Ungovernable America (0.00 / 0)
The politics of the neocon is to divide and conquer; to create a sense of polarization. It produces an environment where compromise and collegial debate are anathema; where the common good is ignored.

Mecklenberg, VA, unfortunately, is a good place to get a view of the symptoms. I am not sure whether or where they are going to find the cure.

Fear and Hate (0.00 / 0)
As the powerful have for eons, they often control the population by arousing fear and hate. The infamous "southern strategy" begun by Barry Goldwater and Richard Nixon after the passage of civil rights legislation was one iteration of that. Now, since that's no longer fashionable (not gone but had to go underground), hating and fearing Muslims, immigrants, and gays is handy.

Sadly, the Republican Party long ago sold its political soul to the devils of fear and hate. What I can't understand is how the few remaining conservative Republicans who are perhaps at all principled can stand to pretend to go along with that sh*t

Heart-breaking sincerity (4.00 / 1)
saturates every comment the man made in this video. We can analyze and refute just about everything he obviously deeply believes is true, and it will not make any difference to him, and will, in fact, make him even more convinced his gut is right, that is, correct. If we shut down Fox, which feeds and enhances every last tiny morsel of his heart-felt dogma, this otherwise good citizen will roll on under his own momentum, enabled by his church and the social pressures of his family and friends. Would he really have voted for Richard Pryor? Does he really believe there is a conspiracy of treachery in the Oval Office? No matter, he is in the thrall of a cult. The only thing that is honest and true about him is his absolute conviction he is on the side of God and Country and those who do not agree with his cult are minions of evil.

Mecklenburg Resident Myself (0.00 / 0)
This man's business is not far from my house and unfortunately  such easily misinformed folks are not a minority down here. I would remind BV readers that the Mecklenburg GOP Facebook page was the one that made the national news when they initially refused to take down to their collection of Obama bashing racist cartoons. Part of the problem in this area is the lack of alternative media sources since despite a huge infusion of stimulus dollars broadband access is stll not widespread and internet via satellite is quite pricey and the median income here is not very high. This man is an example of EXACTLY the audience Rupert Murdoch saw as underserved when he started Faux news.
