Find out how Ken Cuccinelli's not just a tinfoil-hat, John Birch Society-style, extremist wackjob, he's also corrupt, in the The Continuing Chronicle of Ken Cuccinelli's Corruption. It really stinks!

Mittworld: Let Me Out of Here #bindersfullofwomen

by: KathyinBlacksburg

Wed Oct 17, 2012 at 10:36:28 AM EDT

(Update (hat-tip to Ingrid): It turns out that the #bindersfullofwomen lie was a bigger one than I thought when I wrote this diary. Check out this link).

Snake Oil Mitt had a message for women last night and it was that he thinks we cannot see through his stated plans to take us back more than a half a century. He doesn't support the Lilly Ledbetter equal pay act, but he had #bindersfullofwomen.  He wants to take away birth control, but he had #bindersfullofwomen. He has moved the the extreme "right" (really the wrong) on the invasion of women's private lives, but gives us #bindersfullofwomen as a pander.  By supporting efforts to reduce and eliminate contraception and use ineffective abstinence-only approaches to birth control, Snake Oil Mitt will push more teens into pregnancy, but he offers us #bindersfullofwomen. Do you see the dripping snake oil?

I was talking to a woman who is a registered Republican this morning and she was livid at Mitt Romney's reference to #bindersfullofwomen. If ever there were an empty, insulting and insufferable pander to women, that was it, we agreed. Aside from providing an inadvertent, stunningly insincere moment, Mitt gave the impression he had to have his staff search far and wide. Of course, no such great adventure was necessary for men.  And then, as he represented the so-called anecdote, Snake Oil Mitt portrays women as two dimensional.

Talk about not ringing true! Indeed as the Boston Globe showed, Mitt did not have an exemplary hiring record at Bain Capitol or its related groups.

Romney, however, did not have a history of appointing women to high-level positions in the private sector. Romney did not have any women partners as CEO of Bain Capital during the 1980s and 1990s.

The venture capital and private equity fields were male-dominated, to be sure, especially during Romney's time. Women started to break into the upper echelons of the firm after it started a hedge fund, called Brookside in 1996.

Today, 4 of out of 49 of the firm's managing directors in the buyout area are women.

There's more below the fold...

KathyinBlacksburg :: Mittworld: Let Me Out of Here #bindersfullofwomen
His duplicity on the subject is made worse by the  fact that was unapologetic about embracing his Neanderthal Party's abusive legislation to rein in the private lives and choices of women.

While a candidate's religion is not a disqualifier from the presidency, it is discomforting that he served as a bishop in one of the most hierarchical churches on earth, whose attitudes and treatment of women wereand are far from exemplary. As such a church leader, Mitt was part of the problem. And his archaic views of women apparently are manifest in the fact that he he will let his out-of-control veep candidate bring forth the most draconian, anti-women, anti-middle-class budget in the history of the US. The "let them eat cake" plutocrat and his sniveling "Kid Serious" plans cuts which would decimate nearly all domestic programs.  Mitt is lying each and every time he says otherwise.  He supports the Ryan plan and the Ryan plan is a matter of record. Thank God for the Democrats who killed the Ryan budget, or we would be in economic hell right now.

The president was right that women would be especially hurt by the Ryan budget, which Mitt supports. There is no question which candidate supports women as real people, with real issues and real families.  And it is not Snake Oil Mitt Romney and his plastered on, unnatural smile.  It's not Snake Oil Mitt with the jerky robotic responses-all showing a discomfort which gives hims lack of candor away. And it is not Snake Oil Mitt with the conscience (or lack thereof) which will lie himself into tomorrow, lying even more than he did in the last debate.  More on that in an upcoming diary.

Women in Binders (0.00 / 0)
I have one wife, one daughter, three daughters-in-law, five granddaughters and (potentially next month) a great-granddaughter. Should I have binders on all of them?

Yeh, he may well have slipped by using that term given (0.00 / 0)
another use of the word.  I am not a Freudian psychologist, but he might well have had some sort of a slip in getting that sentence out. The double entendre is incredible.

There's nothing in the middle of the road except yellow stripes and dead armadillos (Jim Hightower). PS I'm on Twitter here.

A Bet (0.00 / 0)
I'll bet not one out of a thousand people would phrase the lie Romney told the way he did. Wasn't he trying to say, "I was given binders with many resumes of qualified women in them"? There really is something quite revealing in the way Romney unconsciously referred to women as inanimate pieces of paper. Oh, well, haven't all of us women, at some time, heard of ourselves being objectified in one way or another? Of course, it's usually as "pieces of a**," not "pieces of paper."

Way to go, Mitt. In one debate you insulted slightly over half of the population, as well as insulting millions more with your use of the term, "undocumented illegals." I sure hope women and Latinos act on that.

Mitt's talk about two-dimensional women reminds me (0.00 / 0)
Mitt's talk about women being sheets of paper in binders, essentially two-dimensional women, reminds me of the full-size cardboard cutouts like the "Flat Howard" from the Howard Dean campaign. I cannot help but think Mitt sees all  women that way.

Remember (0.00 / 0)
In the mormon church, Mitt isn't just the head of the household, he's the priest for that household.  Both temporal and spiritual worlds go through him.  While mormon women are expected to work hard and be frugal - not that Ann seems to follow that too much - they are definitely subservient in all ways to their husband.  Women cannot be the head of a household, and cannot hold the priesthood.

He can't even get his #bindersfullofwomen story straight. (0.00 / 0)
As we expect from Mittens, it's all a lie. Here is how it went down:

Great find, Ingrid! (0.00 / 0)
I am going to put this as an update at the top of the article.

A female friend of mine had this to say (4.00 / 1)
I asked her, "Did you hear Romney refer to 'illlegals' last night? So much for any significant Latino vote." She replied:
I was too busy being totally annoyed that Romney basically said that women employees all need special flexibility because we are different from regular employees in that we all have to leave early to pick up our kids and make sure our husbands have dinner on the table, so that's why we have to support women more in the workplace.  (A) not all women have kids you ridiculous ass; (B) plenty of women have kids and they just work the same hours as men because we actually aren't surgically attached to children after we give birth to them; (C) men have kids too and occasionally pick them up after school and like to parent as well and; (D) mostly I just think Romney is a paternalistic jerk and I hope the binders full of women he has insulted will all sprint out and vote Obama.
I couldn't agree more. Seriously, how could any woman vote for Romney at this point?
