The Stench
Find out how Ken Cuccinelli's not just a tinfoil-hat, John Birch Society-style, extremist wackjob, he's also corrupt, in the The Continuing Chronicle of Ken Cuccinelli's Corruption. It really stinks!

Virginia News Headlines: Saturday Morning

by: lowkell

Sat Sep 22, 2012 at 07:08:44 AM EDT

Here are a few Virginia (and national) news headlines, political and otherwise, for Saturday, September 22. Also, check out President Obama's weekly address, in which he slams the Republican House of Representatives for their decision to "skip town" without passing any legislation to help the economy, create jobs, or anything else useful for that matter.

*Democrats accuse Romney of applying a political strategy in filing his 2011 tax returns (What we need is tax returns for this weaselly slimeball going back BEFORE he was running for president, or knew for sure that he was going to run for president. The 2011 return is worthless, as he could have, and undoubtedly did, game it to the max.)
*Questions remain about Romney's taxes before 2010 (Wait, we shouldn't just trust Willard? LOL)
*Romney accuses Obama of redistributionism ("It's indisputable that Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama have diverging views about the danger posed by increasing income inequality and the degree of redistribution in which government should engage. But the Romney campaign's desperate, clownish portrayal of Mr. Obama does this important debate a serious disservice.")
*Obama to Romney - Don't 'write off half the nation' (Too late, he's already written them off, also showed utter contempt towards half the country, and god knows what he thinks of the other half.)
*Romney speaks out of both sides of his mouth ("The back-slapping, fast-talking, never-stop-smiling style of Mitt Romney calls to mind the silky-smooth used-car salesman who will say or do anything to con you into buying what he's hawking.")
*Warner would be well positioned in Va. governor's race, poll shows
*Kaine talks about taxes ("How he would close the gap")
*Romney: My campaign doesn't need a turnaround (Cool, keep believing that Willard!)
*10 Questions Romney Should Answer About His Taxes
*Castellanos on tax summary: Is this a joke? ("Alex Castellanos, the former Mitt Romney strategist from 2008 who has alternately been critical and praising of the current campaign, left no doubt where he stands on the decision to release a summary of the candidate's tax rates over 20 years.")
*Paul Ryan Booed At AARP (VIDEO) (Bottom line: nobody in or near retirement should even think of voting for Willard/LyinRyan)
*Goode will stay on Virginia presidential ballot ("The attorney general's finding comes at a crucial time. Local registrars must begin mailing absentee ballots today, 45 days before the election.")
*Dem Lawmaker Says Israel May Need U.S. Protection Soon ("Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) warned lawmakers Thursday that the U.S. is closing in on a so-called 'red line' for taking military action against Iran to protect Israel.")
*Republican Candidate Murray Is Back on the Attack (And the 8th District reactzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.)
*After backups, VDOT announces new plan for bridge-tunnel work
*Three cities stand to collect more tax revenue if ports are sold
*Nationals vs. Brewers: Tyler Clippard blows save in loss to Milwaukee, adding to potential closer controversy (Just switch to Storen, this one's an easy call.)

UPDATE: Also, Ezra Klein NAILS it in his piece, Romney's skewed view on responsibility. ("This is a man blind to his own privilege. Which is his right. But that sentiment informs his policy platform - which calls for sharply cutting social services for the poor to pay for huge tax cuts for the rich - and it suggests he's trying to make policy with a worldview that's completely backward.")
