The Stench
Find out how Ken Cuccinelli's not just a tinfoil-hat, John Birch Society-style, extremist wackjob, he's also corrupt, in the The Continuing Chronicle of Ken Cuccinelli's Corruption. It really stinks!

Video: Obama Campaign Takes on Romney's "Are you better off" Big Lie Head On

by: lowkell

Good for the Obama campaign, it's about time they hit back in advertising against Romney's repeated Big Lie, that we're not better off than we were when Barack Obama took office. In fact, as I explained in detail here, we are far, FAR better off today than when Barack Obama took office. Just to give one example: in January 2009, Bush's last month in office, our economy was hemmoraging more than 800,000 jobs per month. Today, we have been gaining jobs month after month for almost 3 years. Yeah, I'd say that's better off. Also, the stock market is WAYYYY up from when Obama took office, like DOUBLE what it was then. The auto industry is back, the housing market is recovering, etc, etc. I mean, it's hard to think of one way in which we're NOT better off than we were in Bush's final months in office. Thus, what Romney's been saying is a Big Lie - repeat it often enough, and at least some people will believe it. But it's still a lie.

In other news, Rick Santorum says smart people will never (0.00 / 0)
be on conservatives' side. Hmmmmm.

"Church and family" linked, (0.00 / 0)
that rings a bell; wasn't that part of the motto of the 1920's and 1930's German National Socialists, otherwise, and later, known as... Nazis? This is a fallback to patriarchal feudalism, which seems to be an historical norm, the natural social organization for reactionaries of every stripe, which organizes itself around the family/clan under one specific religion. Margaret Thatcher is also supposed to have said "There is no such thing as society, there are only families and individuals."

No Smart People... (0.00 / 0)
Santorum: "Without church and family, there is [sic] no basic values."

Uh, which church? Scientology? Mormonism? Judaism? Islam? Buddhism? Shintoism? Agnosticism? Catholicism? Church of What's Happening?

Uh, which definition of family? The nuclear, Daddy-headed family? A single mother raising her kids? Two dads or moms raising their children? A grandparent taking on the raising of yet another generation? A foster family? An orphanage taking in children without any family left? Couples who have no children? The neighbors looking out for the elderly person in their midst? The foster care system?

You are quite right in one respect, Rick, if off on your grammar. Smart people will never be drawn to your brand of "conservatism." It isn't conservative to blindly reject any "truth" except that which you promote with evangelical fervor in the face of evidence you are way off base. Instead, that's fanaticism in search of a target and sure of its own victimhood, even as seeks to control others.

desperation (0.00 / 0)
Mr. Romney's campaign now has a feeling of desperation.
This perception drives him to say more and more desperate things.
It is like an airplane going into a tailspin.
Very hard to pull out of such a downward spiral.
