The Stench
Find out how Ken Cuccinelli's not just a tinfoil-hat, John Birch Society-style, extremist wackjob, he's also corrupt, in the The Continuing Chronicle of Ken Cuccinelli's Corruption. It really stinks!

Virginia News Headlines: Thursday Morning

by: lowkell

Thu Aug 30, 2012 at 06:47:15 AM EDT

Here are a few Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Thursday, August 30.

*Paul Ryan's speech in 3 words ("...to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan's speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was  Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.")
*Mr. Ryan's misleading speech
*Paul Ryan's breathtakingly dishonest speech ("With tonight's speech, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have doubled down on their twin bets of 2012 - that journalists will sit back and name winners and losers without regard to who is telling the truth, and that voters are too ignorant to care about the truth. Do not let them be right.")
*Paul Ryan fails -- the truth ("It was, by any reasonable standards, a staggering, staggering lie")
*As Republican convention emphasizes diversity, racial incidents intrude
*A very strange argument for Mitt Romney
*Mega-donors lavished with attention at convention parties
*At Republican convention, Eric Cantor stays in the background (Perhaps because he's one of the least popular politicians in America?)
*Obama campaigns in Charlottesville (Also make sure to see Aznew's superb report of the rally, two spots before this diary. Also Ponton's excellent report, right below this one...)
*President's visit draws thousands
*President's visit thrills many in Charlottesville
*Another McDonnell gets convention face time
*Paul's backers 'a new force' in Virginia GOP
*Kaine releases new TV ad
*In speech Jeanine McDonnell praises military, their families (Just remember, it's Democrats who actually do something for the military and their families. With Republicans, it's just lip service.)
*Bob McDonnell: Too temperate for spotlight? (Oh puh-leeze, Bob McDonnell hasn't done squat as governor, except to run away from all the tough choices and fail to move the state forward. Based on that record of non-accomplishment, he richly deserves his low profile.)
*Editorial: Giving voters more choices ("A Virginia senator seeks to lower the bar for statewide candidates. Odds are his party won't like it.")
*Internal polling has Hurt up 18 in Fifth (There's no way in hell that Hurt's winning women by a 53%-37% margin. Zero. Also highly unlikely President Obama's trailing in the 5th by 8 points. This poll, by the guy who does Cuccinelli's and McDonnell's numbers, appears to be complete crap.)
*Va. Beach board has spent nearly $700,000 in effort to get arena
*It's tipoff time for Beach arena
*Richmond could narrow Redskins sites to 2 today
*Nationals vs. Marlins: Bryce Harper has first two-homer game as Washington ends skid at 5
