The Stench
Find out how Ken Cuccinelli's not just a tinfoil-hat, John Birch Society-style, extremist wackjob, he's also corrupt, in the The Continuing Chronicle of Ken Cuccinelli's Corruption. It really stinks!

Virginia News Headlines: Tuesday Morning

by: lowkell

Tue Aug 21, 2012 at 06:22:09 AM EDT

Here are a few Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Tuesday, August 21.

*Obama to media: Romney's whole campaign is based on lies   (THAT, at least, is absolutely true!)
*The post-truth campaign continues apace (I mean, Romney and Ryan - and their allies - aren't just lying, they're not even trying to tell something vaguely resembling the "truth." And the corporate media's basically AWOL in calling them on this, with rare exceptions.)
*First on CNN: GOP prepares tough anti-abortion platform ("The Republican Party is once again set to enshrine into its official platform support for 'a human life amendment' to the Constitution that would outlaw abortion without making explicit exemptions for rape or incest, according to draft language of the platform obtained exclusively by CNN late Monday.")
*Todd Akin vows not to quit
*Rape means rape ("he code behind Todd Akin's repugnant comments.")
*The 'war on women' reemerges
*Milbank: Romney and Ryan punt on the trail
*Team Obama spent more than it raised in July, falls behind Romney in cash-on-hand (Not good.)
*Former congressman Perriello stumps for Obama
*Editorial: Of rape and pregnancy ("He is not alone among Republicans in trivializing rape and its terrible aftermath. Mitt Romney's running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, cosponsored a federal 'personhood' amendment, opposed abortions except when the life of the mother is at risk, and would require all women to get an ultrasound before an abortion.")
*Cantor to debate Powell
*Ryan to campaign Wednesday in Roanoke area
*McDonnell: DOJ upholds Va. voter law
*Va. board may reverse itself over abortion rules
*Obama calls for party compromise to head off military cuts
*Dulles board gives own kids summer jobs (Why am I not surprised?)
*MWAA split over member's legal fees ("The authority has spent $75K for the legal expenses of a member who is fighting his ouster from board.")
*Nationals right to shut down Strasburg
*Nationals vs. Braves: Washington finally wins it in the 13th inning, 5-4
