The Stench
Find out how Ken Cuccinelli's not just a tinfoil-hat, John Birch Society-style, extremist wackjob, he's also corrupt, in the The Continuing Chronicle of Ken Cuccinelli's Corruption. It really stinks!

What would Paul Ryan mean for VA?

by: ProgressVA

Fri Aug 17, 2012 at 10:17:47 AM EDT

Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan is in Virginia today, trying to explain why raising taxes on the middle class, ending Medicare as we know it, and gutting home front investments is the right path for America. Our leaders are supposed to work for all of us, not just the wealthiest few. We put together a little info graphic about what the Romney/Ryan plan would be mean for Virginia (here's a hint: it isn't good).

Can you help us get the word out today while Ryan is trying to pitch his "help the rich get richer" plans across the Commonwealth and raising big bucks from the same folks who would benefit from his 1% tax cuts?

The Romney-Ryan vision is clear: an America where hardworking families pay more so the richest few pay less. That's a one-way ticket to disaster, not an America that works for all of us.

Ryan deliberately didn't want to be a part of this community (0.00 / 0)
Maybe I have this wrong, but hasn't Ryan been sleeping in his House office, Mon-Thurs, the entire time he has been in Congress?
http://dailycaller.com/2011/02...

He hasn't been living on the local economy, he hasn't been commuting with us, hasn't been having his family live among us, and the reason supposedly is that he didn't want to be co-opted by becoming a Washington, D.C. insider.  I can see how that might play well in Wisconsin, but I can't understand how anyone would think he would campaign well in Northern Virginia.

I keep thinking about this business of sleeping in his office, and I wonder what the reaction would be at my office if I started bunking, eating and showering there during the work week.

It's really unusual behavior, and now the guy who has been doing it is running for Vice President of the United States. It is an insight into his character, and deserves some thought.

Morgan Griffith is doing the same thing. According to him, he sleeps in his office, showers and shaves at the fancy gym the members of Congress have. (If he gets sick, there is a physician and clinic right in the Capital that he can use for $400 per year.

It is unusual behavior. But, then, Morgan and Ryan are Republicans. They are used to feeding at the federal trough as much as possible themselves and then decrying any benefits going to others.

also sleep in his Congressional office when he was in Congress---- that played well in Texas, of course. "Take that, you traitorous Inside-the-Beltway-elite!"

Complaining about the "painful cuts" (0.00 / 0)
cuts no mustard with Republicans and Republoican-leaning voters, who have been brainwashed about the deficit and the frightful financial cliff they believe we are facing.

The way this group sees it: So, all those moochers who have become dependent on the federal government instead of taking care of themselves will face "painful" loss of their free lunch. Too bad, ha, but we can't afford to continue paying all these entitlements and benefits, so go ahead and tell us again how much it's going to hurt "those people," who don't deserve any more of MY money. Go to hell, whiners. Good riddance.

Unfortunately, far too many national Democrats believe the narrative Republicans have been pushing, based on their free market fundmentalism ideology: we do have debt problem, we do face a financial cliff shortly, we have to address it right now or we will turn into Greece, and so on. Any alternative economic and fiscal reading of our situation is dismissed out of hand, with the result that all discussion is undertaken within that poisonous framework on which Paul Ryan, dear boy, has crafted his disastrous budget.
