Here are a few Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Wednesday, August 15. Oh, and that quote by Ike sums it all up about Romney/Ryan, except that today, unfortunately, their supporters numbers aren't "negligible."
*The 716 Billion Dollar Lie (In short, Romney's campaign is built on a combo of Big Lies and doubling down on the economic philosophy that got us into the Great Recession under George W. Bush. Great, huh?)
*Romney calls Obama 'angry and desperate' (The guy's come completely unhinged. Wow, get a grip "Mitt"!)
*Paul Ryan didn't build that! ("His family built its fortune on the public-works projects that Romney's 'You didn't build that' campaign mocks")
*Obama campaign opposing Ryan budget at state level (Ryan's budget would devastate Virginia. End of story; do NOT vote for Romney/Ryan if you care about Virginia's future!)
*Ryan Budget Would Slash Support for America's Clean Energy Future
*Kaine uses Ryan to attack Allen on entitlements
*Schapiro: Bolling learning friends sometimes aren't
*McDonnell okay with consolation prize
*LaHood, local leaders demand reforms from airports authority (Like getting rid of "no-bid," sweetheart deals to Bechtel, etc?)
*Dulles board abruptly cancels insider contracts (Yeah, except for the ones they did NOT cancel. Whatever.)
*Cantor, Powell to debate Sept. 28 (On the one had, it's surprising that Can'tor would agree to debate, but on the other hand, the debate's sponsored by a de facto arm of the Republican Party, the Chamber of Commerce, and being held at a local business. Can't get much more "friendly" for Can'tor than that.)
*Virginia New Majority group pushes health care, voting rights
*U-VA President: I made mistakes (Sure, we all make mistakes, but Sullivan's still infinitely better than this Dragas character, and others on the UVA Board of Visitors!)
*Biden rallies crowd, draws controversy for 'chains' remark (In reality, there's no "controversy" here, just a Romney campaign faux outrage hissy fit.)
*Va. officials press Verizon to fix 911 system
*Ryan will lead rally in Glen Allen on Friday
*Radford University building to meet growing enrollment
*Bumgarner puts Nationals on ice |
