The Stench
Find out how Ken Cuccinelli's not just a tinfoil-hat, John Birch Society-style, extremist wackjob, he's also corrupt, in the The Continuing Chronicle of Ken Cuccinelli's Corruption. It really stinks!

Virginia News Headlines: Monday Morning

Here are a few Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Monday, August 6.

*Historic Curiosity probe lands safely on Mars (This is what investment in the sciences and education can do. On election day, just remember which party favors investing in those things, which party respects free scientific inquiry and the quest for knowledge, and which party does neither of those things!)
*Gunman kills 6 in shooting at Sikh temple in Wis. ("7 Dead at Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wis.; Officials Believe 'White Supremacist' Behind 'Domestic Terrorism'")
*Top GOP Strategist Pushes Romney To Release More Tax Returns: 'Two Years Is Not Enough, Obviously'
*McDonnell rips Reid allegation on Romney taxes (The real question is why won't Romney just release his freakin' taxes?!? Also, why won't McDonnell join Ed Rollins and a bunch of other Republicans in calling for Romney to do just that?)
*Editorial: Virginia's illusory surplus ("What McDonnell calls a surplus is really only money above and beyond what his revenue forecasters predicted. If they had been more particular in their forecasts, the General Assembly could have tempered, at least a little, the devastating cuts to core services like education that McDonnell signed off on.")
*Editorial: The high cost of for-profit education ("U.S. taxpayers invest billions in for-profit colleges, yet more than half of students leave without a degree or diploma.")
*Hirschbiel airs first TV ad
*Va. lawmaker proposes payments for eugenics victims
*Douglass to Hurt: Ban Uranium Mining Near Residential Areas
*Saving the Silver Line - and the airports authority
*Algae growth on Virginia Beach lakes raises 'gross' alarms
*Turnover atop Va. GOP reflects Bolling, Cuccinelli rift ("Challenges arose in four of the seven State Central Committee seats in play at the Aug. 4 meeting, which ended with three incumbents deposed and former Cuccinelli aide Bob FitzSimmonds winning a bid to become party treasurer.")
*McDonnell Stays Quiet on Possible VP Pick
*Strasburg stings Marlins in win

Statement by the President on Curiosity Landing on Mars

Tonight, on the planet Mars, the United States of America made history.

The successful landing of Curiosity - the most sophisticated roving laboratory ever to land on another planet - marks an unprecedented feat of technology that will stand as a point of national pride far into the future. It proves that even the longest of odds are no match for our unique blend of ingenuity and determination.

Tonight's success, delivered by NASA, parallels our major steps forward towards a vision for a new partnership with American companies to send American astronauts into space on American spacecraft. That partnership will save taxpayer dollars while allowing NASA to do what it has always done best - push the very boundaries of human knowledge. And tonight's success reminds us that our preeminence - not just in space, but here on Earth - depends on continuing to invest wisely in the innovation, technology, and basic research that has always made our economy the envy of the world.

I congratulate and thank all the men and women of NASA who made this remarkable accomplishment a reality - and I eagerly await what Curiosity has yet to discover.

Video: Reince Priebus calls Harry Reid "a dirty liar" (0.00 / 0)
Brilliant move by Reince "his mouth out with soap" Priebus, guaranteeing more coverage for the Romney tax issue by his over-the-top comment. Keep it up, Reince! LOL

One Way To Prove... (0.00 / 0)
Romney can prove that Harry Reid is "lying" with one simple act. Release the tax returns. Stonewalling tells me one thing: There's stuff in those tax returns that Romney doesn't want the public to see.
