by: lowkell

Fri Mar 16, 2012 at 06:38:53 AM EDT

Here are a few Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Friday, March 16.

*Gov. Bob McDonnell's poor plan to unclog Virginia's roads (Gov. McGimmick strikes again!)
*McDonnell urged to veto voting bills
*Fundraising trends emerge in U.S. Senate race
*Virginia Democrats already trying to unite for 2013 elections
*Cuccinelli fears Romney nomination would neutralize health law as issue (Cuckoo's actually right about this one; "Romneycare" was actually MORE expansive than the Affordable Care Act, and also was the model for the ACA.)
*'Lady business' activism floods Va. Republicans' Facebook pages
*All AG revealed was overheated political climate
*General Assembly: Detention bill faces uncertain future
*Tech awaits verdict in Department of Education appeal
*Sen. Webb says he's "not attempting to kill" the buildup on Guam
*Localities await particulars of GA's retirement-system law
*Legislators' new approach in tolls fight: Get the contract canceled
*Break bad deal on Midtown Tunnel
See No Evil At George Mason University
*At 87 degrees, Norfolk temperature record falls and Richmond hits 86 degrees, sets record and a million other daily, monthly, and seasonal temperature records around the globe (Nothing to do with global warming, though, oh no can't possibly be...heh.)
*Fairfax County executive grilled over higher taxes and fees at Mason District town hall
*Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appears headed toward minimal changes on public pensions

P.S. Also check out Right-to-Work Laws, Explained and No, Obamacare's Cost Didn't Just Double. Sigh. (another corporate media #FAIL and another right-wing Big Lie).

The headline above, "Lady business activism floods Va. Republicans' Facebook pages," notes that Daily Kos...actually Lowkell...saved comments on those pages. Go, Lowell!!

Yeah, as usual they don't give proper credit (0.00 / 0)
to the news outlet and/or individual breaking the story. Still, small victories with the Kaplan Post. Now, if they could only figure out what the word "nonplussed" meant. Seriously, this paper's become a total rag, no better than the Moonie Times or Examiner in many ways. Sad.

The Post has been racing to the bottom ever since the niece of the former publisher took over. She knows absolutely nothing about journalism, salvaging a business in a technologically changing world, etc.

After all, she is the one who came up with that abortive idea of holding a "salon" where advertisers could meet reporters and editors and make their case for slanted reporting.
