Virginia News Headlines: Thursday Morning

Here are a few Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Thursday, February 2. Also, check out the video about how Willard doesn't give a rat's hindquarters about the poor OR about the middle class. Nope, he's 100% about the top 1%. And last but not least, see the video in the comments section of President Obama announcing "African Americans for Obama" in African-American history month.

*Republican bills ratcheting up requirements for in-person voting pass Va House; Senate is next
*House passes repeal of 18-year-old one-gun-a-month bill, Senate prepares to follow suit
*Bill expanding home-schooler sports access backed
*General Assembly bid to get marijuana reclassified fails
*Bob McDonnell, Ken Cuccinelli to speak at CPAC
*McDonnell: No. 2 on a hypothetical vice presidential contenders list
*GOP-led Va. Senate passes bill requiring fetal ultrasound before abortion
*Party affiliation bill fails in Va. Senate
*Obama will appear in Arlington on Friday
*Wind farm concerns aired in Floyd County
*Frank Wolf outraised by Democratic opponent
*Va. House panel rejects new taxes for transportation
*Cash cows Fairfax, MontCo shorted in state aid
*Metro finding more cracks in tracks
*Rigell steps up pressure to allow offshore drilling
*Retired federal workers wait for system fix
*Allen: 'I am going to be like a dog on a bone on energy' (What, a rabid dog on a nasty/dirty old bone?)
*Busy Cuccinelli finds time for subcommittee (Speaking or rabid...)

P.S. Oh yeah, again speaking of rabid (in this case, rabidly anti-"illegal immigrant"), Corey Stewart will run for lieutenant governor. With that news, Republicans are almost certainly headed towards their most radical, extremist ticket in Virginia history. We'd better get our game faces on - and soon - if we want to stop them!

Albo must go! (0.00 / 0)
"How do they value the amount of money it costs to put sexually violent predators from Northern Virginia in southwestern prisons?" asked Del. Dave Albo, R-Springfield. "How do you value the number of kids that come up out of Northern Virginia to go to colleges in other parts of the state? You cannot calculate it."

Idiot quote from the cash cow article.  Albo who represents fairfax seriously his position is to blow off the redistribution of wealth out of nova with a quote like this?

A little economic lesson for him.  Those young adults from nova that go to colleges in other areas of the state (since we only have one higher institution within a 100 mile radius of nova) drive the economics of that area with tuitions that pay the faculty, with their spending dollars in housing, gas, food, other purchasing.

Jack please run again.  Albo does not represent us!

Lowell quick question (0.00 / 0)
Can we get a legislative ticker on the front page of the actual bills coming out of the general assembly committees moving to the full assembly?  Something as simple as a list major sponsors?

There is a lot of discussions of this bill or that bill but to see ithe crazy crap in a graphic that has a sustained visual on the front page would help with exposure and discussion

Still no Dem nominees for any 2013 races? (0.00 / 0)
Are people just doing a good job of hiding this, or are we still looking as bad as 2011 on recruitment?

Someone's gotta know someone that's going to announce soon.
