Fimian: "Herrity Votes to Raise Property Tax Rate 13%"

Couldn't Fimian beat Herrity? (0.00 / 0)

Perhaps Fimian did something to disqualify himself that I missed, but I would have expected the Herrity cheerleaders at Too Conservative to point it out.

Primary Day is not that far away.  Fimian has plenty of his own money he could put into his campaign.  The GOP at all levels really really wants this seat.  The momentum within the GOP at all levels is coming from the Tea Party crowd.  The Tea Party crowd has got to favor Fimian over Herrity.  Herrity's vote to raise taxes, which only happened four days ago, may energize Grover Norquist and his gang to get behind Fimian.

Regardless of whatever the polls and conventional wisdom might have shown and said to this point, I don't see why Fimian couldn't generate the type of late enthusiasm that would give him the turnout to beat Herrity.

And I'm saying all this as someone who wants to see the seat remain in Dem hands.  If Fimian were to beat Herrity, I could see the GOP at all levels extend a lot of help to Fimian to try and defeat Connolly.

I missed the fact that Herrity's vote to raise taxes was in 2009; so, it wasn't four days ago.  Still, I think Fimian could beat Herrity.

Tea Party (0.00 / 0)

Keep in mind that we haven't had an actual election yet to see what the Tea Party is capable of doing in terms of turning our their vote.  We don't really know if there is a lot of momentum or if it is simply a lot of press coverage.  Also, while I don't buy into the conservative talking point that tea party members are "just like you and me" and come from all points on the political spectrum, I also am not yet convinced that they are steadfast Republicans as regards the party.  It's a lot easier to complain about things (or celebrate things -- think "Obama Girl") than it is to take real political action, including (and perhaps especially) voting.

Remember two words............Open Primary! (0.00 / 0)

June 8th should be on the tongue of all "wink" voters.

In my precinct - the SR all have Herrity sides - those are the precinct captains and the workers - that should tell a little bit of the expected outcome.

But - again - Open Primary (absentee ballots) a lot of things could happen
