Letter to the Editor: Barbara Favola Shouted at Constituents, “I don’t have to take this!”

(UPDATE: Here’s a link to the Cherrydale Civic Association newsletter (1/05) which says, “Barbara Favola stormed out of a December 8 CCA meeting in response to questions from angry Cherrydalers about why the County had wasted everyone’s time with the Task Force if the County had no intention of following any of its recommendations.” – promoted by lowkell)

I hate to link to the Arlington Real Estate Rag and Pretend “Newspaper”, but I’ll make an exception in this case. I have no idea who the author of the letter to the editor (Karen Bradley) is, but I strongly recommend that you read it if you’re a 31st Senate district voter.  Here’s an excerpt:

The childish conduct of Barbara Favola in the current Senate campaign is not surprising to me. She has previously shown disdain for the citizenry and lied to the public.

In 2002, Favola tried to defend the incompetence of the County Board in handling of the relocation of Fire Station 3. No need to go into the details of this saga – suffice it to say that she stomped out of a community meeting of more than 200 residents when she was repeatedly criticized for how the County had misled citizens about the station relocation.

She shouted as she left, “I don’t have to take this.”

The Cherrydale community was so disenchanted by Favola that during her next County Board race, the Cherrydale precinct voted overwhelmingly against a Democrat for the first time in years.

Yep, that’s Barbara Favola for you — arrogant, rude, an offputting attitude of entitlement, thin skinned, clueless, etc.

By the way, I’d point out, IF Favola wins the primary tomorrow – which I think is a pure tossup at this point, in spite of all her support from The Establishment – she’d really better get used to being attacked, because wealthy Republican nominee Caren Merrick is going to do a number on her on a variety of fronts (e.g., as LTE writer Karen Bradley points out, “Favola’s past conduct, her complicity with lying to citizens, and her questionable ethics with campaign contributions“).

Bottom line: if anyone can lose the 31st for the Democrats, it’s Barbara Favola. For that reason alone – although there are many others, such as his impressive education, professional experience, intelligence, etc. – you should most definitely vote for Jaime Areizaga-Soto tomorrow!
