Smoke and mirrors (0.00 / 0)

Cowboy Bob McDonnell is all smoke and mirrors.  I have yet to see one solid accomplishment by this guy but his dog and pony show is all the rave with a majority of Virginians.  Sometimes the majority gets the government they deserve.

1. He "balanced the budget." False, false, false (but don't expect the idiot media to call him on it). In fact, the state budget HAS to be "balanced," but the way it was "balanced" in Virginia was by taking federal stimulus money, through raiding the Virginia Retirement System, and through a variety of other gimmicks/smoke and mirrors measures.

2. The economic recovery is his doing. That's utterly ridiculous. In fact, the economy is recovering in Virginia because of massive federal spending, stimulus and national security, etc. Even if McDonnell had instituted policies that stimulated economic growth, which HE HAS NOT, he's only been in office for a bit over a year, so it's pretty hard to imagine those policies would have had much impact. But again, he HAS NOT instituted such policies. Instead, about the only thing he's done is offered corporate welfare to Steven Spielberg and a few others (e.g., Northrup Grumman) to bring a handful (at best) of jobs here at an exorbitant cost to taxpayers. Other than that, if anything, his spending cuts to education and other areas have actually HURT the economic recovery. Again, this is a Big Lie, but he'll keep telling it until people - David Axelrod, for instance, who did it on national TV the other day - call him on it, over and over and over....

But the majority of our local press, led by the Richmond Times-Disgust and their little clones throughout the state never call him on it but instead lead the cheers, yay rah team!

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....cue sound of crickets chirping. It really makes me wonder, why do we even HAVE a Democratic Party in this state? As far as I can tell, it does nothing.

That's a change from the past, when abortion was used mainly to enforce the government's one child per couple limit. Today, students are clearly a client base: The Beijing Modern Women's Hospital offers a government-subsidized "Safe & Easy A+" discount abortion package at 880 yuan ($130). Others advertise in college handbooks.

According to a government tally, 9.2 million abortions were performed in 2008, up from 7.6 million in 2007. But the count only includes hospitals, and state media report the total could be as high as 13 million. If accurate, that would give China among the highest abortion rates in the world.

Oh wait, McDonnell hasn't said a word about this? What's the deal with that, more hypocrisy by Bob McDonnell or does the Almighty Dollar come before his supposed commitment to "Life?"
