This whole "will to power" vision of survival of the fittest capitalists crushing the wimpy coward socialists.

Kind of ironic and sad considering that Rand was a Jewish refugee (from Russia) who was writing not long after the Nazis showed how deadly such an approach can be.

Kind of like religious or communist or fascist writing where the writer is so confident and unwavering in her opinions that many readers will feel like they've discovered some revelation, a rock they can lean on to hold them steady.

I went through an Ayn Rand phase years ago, believe it or not.  Atlas Shrugged is kind of an interesting book in its own wacko, over-the-top way...

This helps me see where some of these outrageous ideas are coming from. The economic ideas of Ryan and Rand are a wild contrast those of some of the original Christians who could be described as having a socialist fellowship.

The Tea Party leaders embrace Ayn Rand, not Jesus (0.00 / 0)

The people who are behind the Tea Party organizations are not religious but are followers of Ayn Rand. Selfishness and greed are their mantras, not charity and brotherly love.

The fact that Ayn Rand was Jewish is probably largely irrelevant to what the Nazis did because she seemed to have been isolated from much of Jewish culture. Did she do anything for holocaust survivors? No. Tea Party leaders only use Christian right rhetoric to suck them in to their cause and make them think that the Tea Party is for individualism and freedom. The Christian base within the Tea Party is being used the same way the Moral Majority used them before.
