Jim Moran Explains Why Frank Wolf Needs To Go

by: lowkell

Thu Apr 15, 2010 at 05:40:37 AM EDT

Although Rep. Jim Moran is a Democrat and Rep. Frank Wolf is a Republican, I don't think I've ever heard Moran say a negative word about Wolf, or vice versa. Well, last night, at former Del. Margi Vanderhye's house (at a fundraiser for 10th CD Democratic nominee, Jeff Barnett), that changed.  Watch as a fired-up Jim Moran strongly lays out the case against Frank Wolf and why he need to be replaced. Good stuff.

Jim Moran the Anti-Semite? (0.00 / 1)
Maybe he'd like to defend his comments against jews. Thanks for the morning laugh.

Seems to me, Suze... (0.00 / 0)
You are doing exactly the same thing you criticize this site for doing on the other threads.  I am not surprized - political expediency and all.

Summary of Excellent Points (0.00 / 0)
Rep. Moran makes really goods points:

Wolf voted against a balanced budget amendment when George W. Bush was president.

Wolf voted for Medicare Part D during the Bush years, an expansion of government and a costly addition to the federal budget, without off-setting means to pay for the program.

He opposed "pay-go" during the Bush debt run up.

His constituents should carefully look at his voting record over his long career.

All true, but what alternative are the Democrats giving us? (0.00 / 0)
The Democrat is proposing even more spending -- a "public option," cap-and-trade, etc.

We'd be going from bad to worse.

Let's see, (0.00 / 0)
you don't like cap and trade? Do the Republicans have a better idea---- oh, that was a Republican idea originally.

[ Parent ]
Not just a Republican idea.... (0.00 / 0)
...Cap and Trade was a true conservative idea out of the Reagan Administration, a way to harness "market forces" to slash pollution at the lowest possible cost.  Actually, this is one conservative idea I totally agree with, as there's no force more powerful than the market, particularly when it has accurate price signals.

Why not a carbon tax instead? (0.00 / 0)
Cap and trade can be abused (e.g., bogus credits, who gets the original allowances, etc.)

[ Parent ]
I've advocated a carbon tax (0.00 / 0)
for a long time. Of course, politicians don't like anything that can be called "taxes," because they know they'll get criticized.  Hence, "cap and trade," but now Republicans have turned on their own idea, calling it "cap and tax."  Truly astounding.

Republicans just need to grow up (0.00 / 0)
If they want their big guns, missles, and aircraft carriers to protect what they perceive is cheap oil, this all has a cost. The "real" cost of gasoline is likely $10-20 per gallon, when all of the government expense is factored in.  Is it not most fair to impose a tax for the real cost of oil and gasoline?  I guess I am preaching to the choir on this one.

[ Parent ]
Yes, you're preaching to the choir. (0.00 / 0)

Then compute the cost... (0.00 / 0)
Our military does far more than just "protect... cheap oil."

Better Idea for What? (0.00 / 0)
The question is, what do you to accomplish that you think Cap-and-Trade will achieve?

The Republican trolls on this site used to have a litle substance; (0.00 / 0)
now with Suzy Q, Jack, and Otter all we have is a mindless repetition of old, outworn talking points that only the tesbaggers use!

Is it a coincidence... (0.00 / 0)
they all signed up yesterday.

[ Parent ]
No Coincidence (0.00 / 0)
Brian turned me on to this site.  You guys are amusing.

We'll get along well then! (0.00 / 0)

Brian's revenge; at least Brian hsad some substance, (0.00 / 0)
even when he was wrong; the new teabagging ankle-biter's only parrot teabagger talking points! The next thing you know SArah Palin and Michelle Bachmann will be posting here.

[ Parent ]
Now that would be amusing. (0.00 / 0)
I am already laughing.
