Make It Stop 2011: Your NCAA Title Game Open Thread

by: TheGreenMiles

Mon Apr 04, 2011 at 22:51:16 PM EDT

The NCAA men's basketball title game has been brutal, ugly, a bricklayer's delight. Midway through the 2nd half, Butler is shooting 18% and UConn is shooting 32%. Mo Elleithee tweets, "There are a lot of college basketball teams watching this game right now and wondering how the hell they lost to these teams." Call it the Michael Dukakis Blues:

Connecticut's poor showing on the court comes after a poor showing in the stands. I look forward to a vigorous defense of his birthplace from Lowell.

LOL, I was born in NY City (0.00 / 0)
but nice try. :)

I did grow up in Connecticut (0.00 / 0)
from age 6 until I went to college (UPenn), but I was mostly a Hartford Whalers fan, also a Baltimore Orioles and NY Mets fan, and not much of a college basketball fan when I was a kid (when I went to college, I became a big Penn Quakers basketball fan).

I saw ... (0.00 / 0)
...the '79 UPenn team play in the NCAA tournament.  That team eventually reached the Final Four I believe.

Yes, and lost to Michigan State (0.00 / 0)
101-67, then lost to DePaul 96-93 in the "National Third Place Game." Still, the best run ever by an Ivy League team in the NCAA men's basketball tournament, never surpassed by an Ivy League team since then...

It's a Big East thing (0.00 / 0)
Big East basketball is almost always ugly to watch. There has always been more fighting in the paint then that delightful swishing sound of three pointers.
