Here's the Change We've Been Waiting For!

by: Teddy Goodson

Sat Oct 02, 2010 at 23:49:32 PM EDT

Attention all Democratic wusses! Hey, Obama! You want to pull off the Mother of All Upsets on 2 November? Give the pundits cardiac arrest? Give the Republicans the shellacking they so "richly" deserve? This is not a pipedream. Here is what you have to do, and it's straight from the mouth of the guy Republicans hate almost as much as they profess to hate Obama, as laid out by Michael Moore. Yes, that Michael Moore.

1- Immediate Wall-to-Wall TV Ads, Internet Videos, and Appearances Hammering Who the H**l Put Us in the Misery We're In. This is necessary because Americans have short memory spans. Moore says "I don't know a single person in Hollywood who wouldn't shoot those spots for you for FREE. Dems: Do not pull a single punch on this.... the public will be astonished that you've found your courage and your spine."

Teddy Goodson :: Here's the Change We've Been Waiting For!
2- Indict the Criminals. This means, not only those who caused the economic collapse but also those who became war profiteers. It was, after all, organized crime. RICO will come in handy here. Make 'em pay!

3- Announce a Moratorium on All Family Home Foreclosures.  It's coming to light that the Big Banks don't have the paperwork right and can't even prove they own the houses they are seeking to foreclose. Just issue a decree.

4- Announce a New 21st Century WPA. Business isn't hiring, so 'THE GOVERNMENT IS HIRING!" Hire people immediately to work on our infrastructure, and fund it by "taxing the richest 1 percent who have more financial wealth than 95 percent of Americans combined!" Think you can't get it passed? You won't know until you try---- make the Republicans actually go through with their inevitable threat to filibuster; let the American middle class see them for what they are, they won't last a day.

5- Declare that No Democrat Will Accept ANY Wall Street Money in the Next Election Cycle. All the Democrats in Congress should stand on the Capitol steps with President Obama and "pledge that if America allows you to retain control of Congress, none of you will take a penny from Wall Street for the 2012 election. Instead, promise to accept donations of only $2, $5 and $10. You will also pledge not to take a job as a lobbyist or lawyer for ANY corporation for ten years after you leave Congress."

Also, says Moore, use humor and go after those Republican and Tea Party candidates and their agenda, ridicule them---- they're hilarious, aren't they? And, by the way, stop complaining about the base not helping you---- if you do something to earn that help, you'll get help. Incredible amounts of help.

Ah, if only......
If I had to choose, I'd pick 1, 3, and 5 as the most likely to come to pass, and the most spectacular. Go for it!

Oh, where to start... (0.00 / 1)
1. Is a waste of money, likely taxpayer money since you are supporting stupid low caps on donations. These clowns aren't likely to spend their own money to fund that kind of spending, and if they did, one would have to question motives.

2. So, you're in favor of dismantling the Federal Reserve and tossing Barney Frank and associates that forced lenders to loan to those that couldn't afford the loans they were given?  Excellent, me too!

3. Outside the powers of government.  There's no right to own a home. If you break a contract to purchase something, you lose it. Next you'll be talking about car reposessions.

3. So, are you going to fund this tax increase? I can't afford any more government growth or spending. The stimulus was supposed to bolster hiring, and it didn't. Let's face it, ideas like this fail at creating real, self sustaining jobs. Government jobs are not self sustaining, as takes must be collected in at least the pay check thats being provided.

4. As much a waste and lie as "I will not have any lobbyists in my administration".

5.  See previous answer.

I can understand your enthusiastic support for your ideas, and dislike for the Republican party, but, as long as we fail to have a valid third party, we're stuck with two parties that are beholden to bankers, major conglomerates, , the globalist agenda, and the war machine.  If you want to change the world, call for real action against corruption, and remind these jokers that this system belongs to us all, and they work for us. We have limits to government that allow us to thrive, and succeed. let's maintain those.

Reform is not illegal (0.00 / 0)
and soreheads are just that, soreheads who know something's wrong but cannot think outside the box to jump start reform---- and they haven't figured out just what sort of reform they truly want.

Therefore, Tea Party whiners want to "reform" by creating what they mistakenly believe was what the all-knowing Founding Fathers lived under, essentially, the Articles of Confederation. Thus business whines about rule of law, and mistakes it for creating ironclad contracts that can never be re-negotiated... until they are the ones wanting a bailout (instead of providing a bailout for average citizens; that's "different"). It is this sort of obdurate unwillingness to do the hard work of realistic, essential reform, usually on the part of an entrenched elite, that has to be short-circuited, that is, jump started.

In the end, the choices are violent revolution, or something less traumatic but antagonistic and outside the box, like, say, one or two of Mr. Moore's suggestions, or something equally uncomfortable. Until there is a shock there is no urgency, and without urgency there will be no reform---- until the pressure cooker explodes, or the whole system collapses from internal contradictions and/or outside disasters.

I'm all for (0.00 / 0)
Reform, but not at the cost of limited governmental powers.  It's not that hard to work within the system to fix problems, as citizens we should work less for radical polarization, and more for common sense legal reforms.

Isn't that what we have been (0.00 / 0)
trying to do? With unlimited money (generally from the corporations) ready at the instant to be dumped into the political process, or to mount relentless campaigns designed to modify public behavior in the favor of those interests, it is not likely that any "reforms" finally put in place will be to the long-term benefit of average guys (or gals).

I always thought that one of the glories of the American system of representative democracy was the ability to bring change through the ballot box instead of with bullets, based on every participants' willingness to stand down from authority and be replaced. Sadly, the system has become so permeated with money, and participants have learned to game the system so effectively, that the aforementioned glory no longer exists.

We see how one faction (the corporate faction) has refused to accept the results of an election. and utterly gridlocks governance to prevent changes affecting their comfort and power. That power is refusing to budge, and sp, instead of a  democratic republic, we have turned into an oligarchy, an oligarchy of corporatism, of money power. The system as presently operated no longer admits of major change, real reform.

What a Bunch of Crap .... (4.00 / 1)
Tell me what the third party's principals are? Are they libertarian ... been there done that ... and the result is a form of Constitutional fundamentalism which is about as useful these days as Biblical literalism. Same crowd ... same idealogues and failed policies.

The Tea Party crowd likes to use the flags of libertarian thought (Don't Tread on Me) but are more than happy to function as Fox News Fascist.  The majority of those tea bag breathes are a bunch of simpletons who just can't accept how wrong they've been .... with George Dubya ... with "Free Trade" ... with Republican policy that got the country into such an economic and globally strategic shithole it will take a long time to dig out of. My God ... they follow Dick Armey and Sarah Pallin. King & Queen Hypocrites!!

Longer that is ... because of Republican STONEWALLING against progressive reform.

The third party of TEA BAGGERs are expertly manipulated by a handful of Billionaires who live a fantasy life while the rest of us look for a decent job. Unfortunately those jobs have been conveniently shipped overseas to improve their happy stock portfolios. The shallowness and stupidity of the Tea Party may have to be endured because of Fox News .... but anyone with sense should vote for something else.

The point teabaggers don't understand (4.00 / 1)
is that, if this were 1770, they would not be formulating a revolution.  That's a liberal idea, to defy the King.  Almost every one of these teabaggers would have been Loyalists.  Loyalists were all about conformity, keeping what was theirs and not worrying about others.  Keep the religious order in place.

That is, unless they want to claim that all true conservatives would go out and follow a bunch of agnostics like Washington, Jefferson, Adams and the like who believed in....hope and change.

Get Over It and Get to Work (0.00 / 0)
You're making it look like Dick Armey is earning his keep by constantly harping on the Teabaggers all the time. Nobody pays attention to the Teabaggers and how awful they are to people who don't like people who make buffoons of themselves on national television except Dick Armey who is making a fortune organizing them and had to leave DLA Piper because of all the publicity guys like you have given him.  The only thing I can say for the Teabaggers is all the mileage guys like  you have given them is only working in their favor. If the Democrats would get up there and lead instead of railing at the dummies in the Tea Party then they might persuade some people to vote for them who actually cannot see what all the fuss is about in the Democratic Party when it foists the likes of Creigh Deeds on the voters of Virginia. Get real. Creigh Deeds had been running since 2004 when anyone who ever signed up for an email from John Kerry got emails from Deeds begging them to drive hundreds of miles to some fundraiser he was having in Smithole, Virginia.  Get off your high donkey and get real.
When you put up the likes of Creigh Deeds what do you expect people to do, huh?  And now you want Mr. Brian, "How is my profile and did my brother call yet?" Moran to be head of the Democratic Party.

Get serious, will you?

It's not people who attend church, it's not the Tea Party but because of yourselves that you are underlings, as Shakespeare would have said.

Time for New Leadership All Over the Place (0.00 / 0)
Honey, the Democrats are too stupid to talk about history.  Remember the way Al Gore ran for president, that stiff, by not mentioning the "C-word," not cancer, Clinton. The Clinton economy by some happenstance was pretty good.  But to do the obvious instead of what highly paid political consultants said to do is not in the Democratic make up.  Democrats would rather pay worthless political consultants a fortune for bad advice than to use their common sense so no threat to the Republicans that the Democrats might save their money and use some common sense by pointing out the origins of the Iraq war. The second thought that comes to mind is, why should we vote for people who have absolutely no common sense and like to waste money?

Time for new leadership there, too.
