Uh, I'm not sure what you think is so awesome about that clip. The consequences of the diatribe were minimal and inconsequential. MSNBC is a shrinking echo chamber with a very small viewership. Have you seen their low and steadily declining numbers? Why do you think that is?
I would echo Lars' point, as well as raise my own concerns over how useful this conversation is to begin with. They're not discussing specifics related to the bill, they are not bringing up factual points to discount ultra right wing sentiments, they are simply arguing the politics of the matter, which does nothing more than perpetuate the constant bickering.
The issue here is clear: conservatives have no serious, substantive, empirically-based argumentd, and when challenged on their facts, they don't know how to respond except with rote talking points, hissy fits, cutting off the discussion, and saying "no" to everything. Thus, Kos' demolition of Tom Tancredo, leading to Tancredo taking his ball and going home.
"Ask a veteran." "I am a veteran." Accused of being a chickenhawk, Tom Tancredo cuts and runs. If you don't get the significance of that exchange, wait for it. You will.
Still wondering what the significance of the exchange was? Do you really think Tancredo is a spokesperson of any credibility or influence? I think MSNBC wired up his mike because nobody of real import comes on MSNBC, precisely because ..... nobody is watching.
Kos was performing on an unlit stage in an empty theater.
I see that Lars is still trolling here with the RNC talking points.
The real point is that those of us who served our country in military service are sick and tired of these counterfeit patriots who never served (and dodged such service with fake illnesses, college deferments, or failed to report to duty when called) but have the unmitigated gall to impugn the patriotism of those who did serve.
Tancredo turned tail and ran from MSNBC just as he did service to his country when called.
Here's something from a recent email that I received that might be of greater interest to Lars:
"Some Bad News Coming for Loudoun Republicans?
For more than a decade there has been an insidious and inappropriate conduit between the Loudoun County Republican Party and the FBI (and possibly the U. S. Justice Department); on several occasions in the past, information was leaked to the media, usually just before an election, about alleged wrong-doing by local Democratic politicians and an investigation was started. In no case was a Democratic politician even indicted; however in at least two cases, when the Republicans quarreled and squealed on each other, Republican officials and financial supporters were indicted and convicted.
Now that leak has been sealed; but rumor has it that an additional FBI/DOJ investigation (apparently there already is an ongoing one) is about to be launched with regard to possible corruption in a recent purchase of land at the price of $200,000 per acre for a new public school in Loudoun County. An interesting element to this story is that the corruption may go beyond elected officials to include one or more colluding citizens. Watch the Loudoun Republicans begin to scurry and turn on each other."
And this is exactly why I hate wingnuts of both the Republican and Democratic variety. Both breeds rally around disruptive political talking points that rarely address the facts of the situation, nor will they so much as listen to a moderate in their own party, or in the opposite. You think your denouncement of Lars is any different from the Republican denouncement of their own moderates? Please. An intelligent person would know to listen to the opinions of those they disagree with without simply discounting them on a partisan, rather than a factual, basis.
So what is the talking point about Kos arguing with Tancredo on an MSNBC program with limited and declining viewership? What part of that is not a fact? And what on earth does that have to do with some DOJ/FBI investigation in Loudoun County?
Get your head out of your anus, there is no way to hold a rational discussion with Lars, Barbara, and the other right wing teabaggers. They are not open to any real discussion, they simply repeat and repeat their talking points.
Trancredo got exposed for the fraud he is; pretending that he supports veterans' health care when in congress he consistently voted against veterans' interests, parroted his own patriotism while accusing Democrats (including veterans) as traitors.
If you were truly the objective, intelligent person you claim to be, you would recognize that fact. Further, I have yet to see you make a substantive point on this Trancredo subject.
You are the type of person who stands above the fray appealing for peace while the bullets are still flying and asking only one side to disarm. I don't think that Lowell is disarming just to satisify you.
Now you can profit from positive or negative price movement.

Back in January 2005, when I started a little blog called "Raising Kaine," people scoffed at the concept that Virginia would turn Democratic "blue," let alone Progressive "blue," anytime soon. Well, four years later, Democrats controlled both U.S. Senate seats, 6 out of 11 House of Representatives seats, the State Senate, and the governor's mansion. Goal #1 should be to keep it that way. Goal #2 should be to expand our majority. Goal #3 should be to elect not just MORE Democrats but BETTER Democrats, more Progressive Democrats. Along those lines, I want to state categorically that, even more than a Democrat, I consider myself a Progressive in the tradition of Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Tom Paine, Teddy Roosevelt, JFK, RFK, and Jim Webb. As such, I believe in expanding opportunities to all, utilizing government as a tool to promote the general welfare and the common good, protecting the environment for ourselves and for future generations, and expanding the rights promised in our Constitution and Bill of Rights to all Americans.
This blog is not intended to be a replacement for Raising Kaine, or RK as it came to be known. It is simply my personal blog, where I can write whatever moves me at a particular moment. The focus will be Virginia politics, but expect to see diaries here on national and even international events, particularly - but not only - as they affect Virginia. Finally, while I begin this blog as the sole author, I do not exclude the possibility of inviting other principled, pragmatic Progressives to join me at some point. And, of course, I invite everyone to comment here, but please be aware that profanity, personal attacks, bigotry, and "trolling" are not allowed. Thanks, and enjoy!
P.S. You can contact me at lowell@raisingkaine.com
