"Sideshow Bob" Marshall on Euthanizing Seniors, "Live and Let Die" as Obama's Theme Song

Del. Bob Marshall (R-13) has always been a right-wing extremist on abortion and other social issues, particularly anything and everything to do with the evil S-E-X. Examples of Bob Marshall craziness are legendary, including his famous quote about the morning after pill, "we have no business passing this garbage out and making these co-eds chemical Love Canals for these frat house playboys in Virginia." That's right, Bob Marshall called female students who use contraception "chemical Love Canals for...frat house playboys." Other Marshall classics include:

*Comparing the economic recovery package to slavery, saying "It is as much a chain as ankle bracelets were as to African-Americans in the 1860s in this state. It’s just invisible. But it is a chain of death that we’re not going to escape."

*Talking about abortion in the case of incest, Marshall said "sometimes incest is voluntary," and added with regard to rape, "the woman becomes a sin-bearer of the crime, because the right of a child predominates over the embarrassment of the woman."

*As we all know, Marshall co-sponsored the infamous Virginia hate anti-gay-marriage amendment, prompting Virginia Log Cabin Republicans President David Lampo to say, "[Marshall is] just, I think, an awful person and just an embarrassment to the Republican Party."

OK, so obviously Marshall has some...er..."issues" when it comes to government, abortion, and gays. That's all bad enough. But now Marshall takes teh crazy up yet another notch, to Sarah Palin-level looniness, with this gem:
Suicidal deficits, enemies lists, abortion, euthanize seniors, health care that kills capitalism ... "Live and let die," Obama theme song!
That's right, we've gone completely over the line into men-in-white-coats crazy land here. "Enemies lists?" "Euthaniz[ing] seniors?" Barack Obama's "theme song" is "Live and let die?" Yes, this is why I call him "Sideshow Bob." Craaaaaaaaazy. But, then again, this is the Bob Marshall/Bob McDonnell Republican Party of Virginia to a "t," isn't it?

P.S. Perhaps Bob Marshall doesn't recall, but the first lines of "Live and Let Die" are "When you were young and an open book, you used to say 'live and let live'." I wonder if there ever was a time in Bob Marshall's life when his heart was an open book and he had a "live and let live" attitude. If he ever did, it certainly hasn't been the case for a long time now.

P.P.S. If you want to boot this clown from office this year, Democrats have an excellent candidate with John Bell. I urge everyone to support him.

His kindred spirit, Bob “we just can’t afford it” Purkey (D-82nd) exhibits similar or even more disturbing flights of fancy and misremberances. 20/20 hindsight combined with illusions of grandeur where he recalls providing sound counsel to President Bush and Governors Warner and Kaine and criticisms of acts and assessments he never raised an objection to when they were before the Assembly or on Governor Allen’s desk pepper his self constructed life vitae. Where do we find such men?

You forgot one of the more offensive (to veterans) statements by Bob Marshall during his debate with opponent Bruce Roemmelt in October 2005... Bob compared the GI Bill to Welfare, which had most of the veterans in the room aghast.

Don't even get me started on Bob's whacky ideas about adult stem cell research.

I will see if I can find my notes; though perhaps Bruce or James can pull up video - they taped the debates....
